President Janell Moore opened the business meeting at 11:45 a.m. at the Tioga First Baptist Church meeting room, with no use fee, but we made a donation of $75.
The roll call of officers found three officers present: Janell Moore, President; Melinda Butts, Secretary, and Jimmie Nell Lewis, Historian, with Cary Chandler, Vice President being absent..
The minutes of last year's meeting were read and approved by Jimmie Nell Lewis and Lewis Boyd.
Janell Moore presented the financial report with our balance being $1304.72 that was approved by Melinda Butts and seconded by Jimmie Nell Lewis.
Officers were elected by unanimous decision; Janell Moore, President; Cary Chandler, Vice President; Melinda Butts, Secretary; and Jimmie Nell Lewis, Historian, with the addition of Carolyn LaCroix Deville as Co-Historian with a motion that was approved by Bob Glass and seconded by Lewis Boyd.
Prayer was requested for several of our members who are experiencing health issues, including Eva Worsham
President Moore surveyed those attending and determined the following:
Oldest was Pat Barron at 97; Youngest was Delilah Fuselier at 2 years; Farthest Traveled was Janell Peri at 3 hours; Most Descendants present, Melinda Butts with 4.
Births included: Tanner Rabalais
Deaths included: Angela LaCroix on October 31, 2020
Melinda Butts gave an update on the website and our Facebook page, and let the members view it to decide if we want to continue it, and all agreed that it was a good addition to help keep up with our family history. The motion was made by Bob Glass and seconded by Janell Moore to keep the website with associated expenses reimbursed to Melinda Butts and keep the electronic payment option for dues.
The meeting date and location for the 2024 reunion were discussed, and the motion to continue to meet at Tioga First Baptist Church at 1309 Singer Street in Pineville, LA 71360 on August 10, 2024, after Melba LaCroix graciously offered to let us use their church facility again. This passed with a motion from Carolyn LaCroix Deville and seconded by Lewis Boyd.
Our Historian, Jimmie Nell Lewis, had asked members to please bring family photos and artifacts to share with other members, and Bob Glass had brought several important items that had a lot of historical information from his research. We discussed the LaCroix Cemetery and determined that we need to find a way to put a marker for the ones buried there. Melinda Butts will get the cost, while Sue and Bob Glass are checking on maintenance fees and getting a price on a booklet about the cemetery.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned with prayer and blessing of the food by Glynda Fuselier.
